Harmless ZIP file?
In the current attack, criminals create two or more separate ZIP or RAR archives, hiding the malware between harmless files in one of the archives. These archives are then merged into a single ZIP archive by adding the binary data of one file to the other. This creates a file with multiple ZIP structures, each with its own central directory and end markers.
What can you do?
To protect yourself from this new scam, security experts recommend using security software that supports recursive unpacking. In addition, users should always handle email attachments with ZIP or similar file extensions with care.
