\"The complexity of IT is now so high that efficient control mechanisms are needed. IT urgently needs to be regularly checked for security vulnerabilities,\" Markus Schulte, Managing Director of SMB Cybersecurity GmbH, recently appealed to the participants of a well-attended online event.<\/p>\n

Together with the Siegen Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Kreuztal-based company offers all member companies of the chamber a free hardware-based penetration test (pentest for short) via the DEFENDERBOX. The aim is to uncover obvious and hidden vulnerabilities, provide the opportunity to eliminate them and thus improve protection against cybercrime in the long term.<\/p>\n

A look at the latest figures shows just how important the topic is. According to the industry association Bitkom, around 2,000 companies in Germany were attacked in cyberspace every week in 2024 - 75 % more than in the previous year. Companies of all sectors and sizes have long been affected - from small and medium-sized enterprises to global players.<\/p>\n

\"The situation will get even worse,\" warned Markus Schulte. Last but not least, artificial intelligence (AI) is a game changer for criminals in this context: \"It makes it easier and easier for them to write programs, fake identities and carry out hacker attacks. The attacks are fully automated.\"<\/p>\n

Protecting yourself efficiently is \"not just an option, but an absolute duty for any company that wants to survive and remain economically successful in the long term. If you don't take measures, you shouldn't ask yourself, whether<\/em>but when<\/em> he is attacked.\"<\/p>\n

The DEFENDERBOX<\/a> starts right here. It only needs to be connected to the power supply and network and uses a scan to detect all hidden and open security gaps in the company's existing IT infrastructure from the outside and inside. The results of the scan are available as a report within a short time. The evaluation is then discussed promptly in a personal meeting with the experts from SMB Cybersecurity GmbH. The participating companies receive important tips and information so that they can take immediate security measures if necessary.<\/p>\n

Markus Schulte's interim results are striking: \"The first pentest identified serious vulnerabilities in 89 % of the companies.\" Companies that decide to continue working with the cybersecurity experts after the free initial test will receive automated weekly reports with specific recommendations for action.<\/p>\n

At the event, the speaker showed how devastating the consequences can be if the dangers are underestimated: \"The tests at the companies we put through their paces showed that attackers would have a very easy time in some cases. In some cases, 30 minutes would be enough to take over the ERP system or even the entire domain. If this succeeds, the attacker can do anything they want without restriction.\"<\/p>\n
