Why technical protection alone is not enough
Whether it's suspicious e-mails, unsecured WLANs or risky websites - everyone knows not to click on them! And yet it happens. Every day. In almost every company. A recent survey shows: There's a dangerous gap between theoretical security knowledge and practical behavior.
According to a representative survey of 1,000 employees of German SMEs, around 60 percent stated that they had already taken security-related risks without informing IT or their superiors. The reasons? Convenience, time pressure - or the attitude: "Nothing will happen."
People as a security factor - or weak point?
The most common behaviors included:
- Neglect of software updates (16 %)
- Installation of unauthorized programs (14 %)
- Opening suspicious e-mails (14 %)
- Use of public WLANs with company devices (13 %)
- Ignoring warnings when accessing websites (13 %)
Particularly critical: around a fifth of those surveyed admitted to being particularly prone to errors on Friday afternoons - stress, exhaustion and the desire to "get something done quickly" lead to carelessness.
Responsibility: All or none?
A third of respondents believe that IT alone is responsible for cyber security. And around 9 percent even openly stated that they do not care if the company is the target of a hacker attack.
These figures must be a wake-up call. After all, cyber security is not a technical issue, but a collective task. Technology can intercept a lot - but not everything.
Our answer: DEFENDERBOX + pished.io
Technology meets people: At DEFENDERBOX, we deliberately rely on a combination of intelligent automated security checks - and human security awareness.
Our partners from pished.io offer awareness training, simulated phishing attacks and clear guidelines for employees. This creates protection on two levels: technological detection and human vigilance.
Because one thing is clear:
- Firewalls help. Monitoring helps. The DEFENDERBOX helps.
- But without trained, attentive people, every system remains vulnerable.
Cyber security starts in the mind - and ends with the click.
Companies that have understood this act with foresight: through clear safety guidelines, an open communication culture - and training that really gets through.
Acting now will prevent the damage of tomorrow.
