About 80% critical security vulnerabilities

Cooperation IHK Siegen with alarming results

The IHK Siegen supports automated pentesting this year with the DEFENDERBOXby offering the first check, i.e. the first pentest, free of charge. The results of this scan are available to the respective member company within a few days. However, the first evaluation of all participating companies was alarming: security vulnerabilities were discovered in each of the 12 companies participating so far during the pentest, i.e. the preventive, test-based attack on the IT infrastructure. More than 80 % of these are critical flaws that pose a risk of the entire IT system being taken over by digital intruders

Widespread risks

The most common risks include insecurely configured printers. These allow access to the printer file system and thus allow the printouts to be read or even changed! Another risk: servers with small maintenance computers, which are easy to attack depending on the software version and for which insecure passwords are used. Another finding of the pentests: Admin user IDs can be used to compromise other accounts or systems. Windows Local Admin accounts in particular should be checked regularly.
